Ceramic Glaze and Cement Made Antibacterial with Intelligent Nanoparticle Tiles

Iranian researchers have produced antibacterial nano tiles and ceramics which are claimed to be able to destroy bacteria and to help provide a sanitary environment in the buildings.

"The product was left in the simulator system to be verified for a period of six months. Its performance stability for being at least five years in use was proved,” Babak Ronaqi, the project executive said.

“One of the important items is antibacterial cement since there will be cracks or gaps after inserting antibacterial tiles or ceramics into the place. Filling gaps with the mentioned cement will assure a non-bacterial space which is also not harmful to the environment”, he said.

“It has been planned to keep a 50 square meters hallway owned by one of medicine production plants hygienic. Using cleaning chemicals costs over 4,000 euros ($20,700) a year, but we can sanitize the place by the mentioned antibacterial product at a cost of 3000 euros ($4,400) once for good”, he added.

Noting that the mentioned product helps improving sanitation, Ronaqi reiterated, "Intelligent antibacterial nano tiles and ceramics have scientific certificate and four years warranty. Any detergent splattered on it has no disturbing effect on its nature. The glaze remains active and keeps its functionality.”
