Jazika Company (Iran) has begun offering a nanotechnology-based thermal insulator which is superior to common insulators like glass wool in quality and price, according to the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council.
The product, which is trademarked as nano-insulator, can be used for all heating/cooling pipes, valves, and other equipments needed to be covered even ceilings.
The product is made up of nano-ceramic fibers which possess excellent thermal insulating properties. Heat transfer coefficient of these materials is evaluated about 0.017 mK/W which is considerably low, based on ASTM-518.
Researchers of the Jazika Co. say the nano-insulator product can “decrease in insulation thickness compared to previous counterparts (only a 2 mm layer of insulator is sufficient with this product). There is also no need for trained work-force for installation. The product offers a reduction in insulation costs and avoids corrosion caused by other insulation products. Jazika claims it offers “energy saving up to 40%.” The produce is also non-flammable and produce in an environmentally friendly manner.
It is announced that these insulators have no negative/harmful effects on their surrounding environment and pose no health hazard to workers or nearby residents.
