In U.S. Patent 7,648,556, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd. (Suwon-Si, KR) unveils its process for manufacturing uniform nickel nanoparticles for use in microelectronic devices.
Young-Il Lee, Jae-Woo Joung and Kwi-Jong Lee invented a method of manufacturing nickel nanoparticles. The nickel nanoparticles thus produced, have superior dispersion stability and smooth surface. The process also prevents agglomeration with other nanoparticles
The manufacturing process reduces a nickel-hydrazine complex in a reverse microemulsion. The method involves forming an aqueous solution including a nickel precursor, surfactant, and hydrophobic solvent, forming the nickel-hydrazine complex by adding a reducing agent that includes hydrazine to the mixture, and producing nickel nanoparticles by adding a reducing agent to the mixture that includes the nickel-hydrazine complex. A surfactant prevents agglomeration.
