National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) Budget 2010

The Department of Defense (DoD) will receive $379 million for nanotechnology research, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will receive $423 million from the 2010 National Nanotechnology Initiative budget which is proposed at $1.6 billion.  The Department of Energy will receive $351 million for nanotechnology and energy related research while the Department of Health and Human Services  and the National Institute of Health (NIH)will receive $326 million for nanotechnology biological research for a wide variety of medical treatments and diagnostic tools. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will receive $91 million.  NASA is slated to get $17 million and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will receive $18 million.  Other agencies receiving funds include the Department of Transportation (DOT), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
