The New Vauxhall Astra VXR
We recently announced the new Astra GTC – now we are pleased to bring you news of the Vauxhall Astra VXR which goes on sale in 2012.
Based on the Astra GTC platform the VXR is the most powerful Astra to date. Driven by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine, it outputs 280hp and can deliver 400Nm of torque which is enough to propel it on to a limited top speed of 155mph.
Although the VXR shares the same DNA as the GTC there are a number of key differences – including a mechanical limited slip differential, which works on the front wheels. In conjunction with the GTC’s HiPerStruts (High Performance Strut), the LSD provides the Astra VXR with enhanced lateral grip and traction.
There are modified Brembo brakes and Vauxhall’s fully adaptive FlexRide system. On the Astra VXR not only do you benefit from the FlexRide Sport Button – there is also a magic VXR button which offers drivers the choice of two, more focused stages of damper, throttle and steering control.
