New challenges await the teams of participants in the F1 race in Valencia this weekend. For the first time, contestants will use a pole racing medium tires as the main tire.
As quoted by Autosport, F1 tire supplier Pirelli as established that the European GP at Valencia street circuit will use mediums tire PZero named White. Meanwhile, soft tires would be an option.
Director Paul Hembrey Pirelli tires explain the reason for establishing the medium at Valencia street circuit. "The use of tires in this circuit might be quite high because the circuit layout, a natural surface track, and also the weather conditions that might be very warm," said Hembrey.
"For all these reasons, we chose the medium and soft tires, which will give the team a good level of resistance, a lot of strategy choices and also record the time per lap difference between the two different compounds it."
Indeed this is the first time that the medium used tires in official races.But teams have been using these tires in Friday's practice sessions throughout the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago.
Lotus team's technical chief Mike Gascoyne considered that in general what is shown is quite satisfactory tire. He hopes the drivers can maximize the speed difference Lotus produced two different compounds it.
"The main Tires in Valencia later is the medium, which was first used in racing," said Gascoyne was quoted by CNN.
"We've tried it on Friday in Canada and the results are quite good. We will monitor further how the tire's performance in Valencia and we will see what the time difference between the main tires and tire choices for Saturday and Sunday sessions," he closed.
