Assen - start position of the three acquired Casey Stoner was much influenced accident he experienced in the third free practice session. All were related tire temperatures, which forced him to be more careful in the qualifying session.
Stoner, and two other Honda riders, crashed on the third MotoGP free practice session of the Netherlands. Tires are less heat is suspected to be the cause of an incident involving a trio of Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso and Hiroshi Aoyama is.
"Slipping in the early morning session is not the best way to get started. We had a little bruise and it hurts. But in general we just lost confidence when using the right side of the tire. We can not seem to make it hot," Stoner said after qualifying.
The Australian rider had to settle with the third starting position in the race to be held on Saturday (6.25) tomorrow. He was behind Marco Simoncelli and Ben Spies.
"This afternoon (in qualifying) we tried a few things to get better speed. We were slow in there, and it's still far from enough.We need more speed for long distances, "he added in Autosport.
Events in the free practice session recognized Stoner made no confidence in the qualifications. Even so riders from Australia that does not deny that Simoncelli deserved to pole.
"It's a little disappointing, but I think I also would not be able to catch Marco to grab the pole. The whole weekend he was very fast and very consistent. I respect him," complete Stoner.
