Chevrolet Volt
The Chevrolet Volts has become the first vehicle to appear in the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' exhibition area at the new premises in Westminster. The showroom-style space highlights the scale of modern UK automotive industry to visitors and passers-by.
The Chevrolet Volt, driven to its display stand in electric-only mode, avoiding the London Congestion Charge due to the electric drivetrain, E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle), which provides power directly to the car's wheels. The petrol engine is used to generate power for the battery, offering a maximum range of 60 miles in full electric mode.
The Chevrolet Volt will go on sale in March 2012 and benefits from the full £5000 from the government's plug-in car grant.
