The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show saw the revealing of the Ford Fiesta ST Concept, signaling Ford's next step in the global performance strategy, and illustrating how a future Fiesta ST performance model may look.
The Ford Fiesta ST Concept features muscular and sporty styling, a dynamic sports chassis and a high performance powertrain boasting high fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.
A large, distinctive trapezoidal grille is reminiscent of the Ford Focus ST and features a honeycomb mesh grille. The rear of the Ford Fiesta ST Concept features a dramatic diffuser design instantly communicating the sporting performance of the Fiesta ST concept.
The exterior is finished in a new paint colour for Europe, Molten Orange, which features in the North American Ford SVT F-150 Raptor pickup.
The Ford Fiesta ST shares the 1.6 litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine with the Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
The 1.6 litre engine combines turbocharging and direct injection, delivering powerful performance expected of a larger capacity petrol engine.
The 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine found in the Ford Focus ST features Twin-independent Variable Camshaft Timing (TI-VCT) and this has been brought across the the 1.6 litre EcoBoost, having been specifically developed to provide power and torque to reflect the ST badge.
The Ford Fiesta ST Concept benefits from 180PS power output with 240Nm of torque, allowing a 0-62mph time of under 7 seconds. Combined with a 6 speed manual transmission, the Ford Fiesta ST Concept will deliver CO2 emissions of under 140g/km.
