With winter 2011 predicted to be as severe as the last few previous years, presenting drivers with a number of driving challenges, Mercedes Benz is offering a range of Cold Weather tyre solutions for passenger and commercial vehicles.
Winter tyres from Mercedes Benz are from premium brands such as Continental and Pirelli. A full fitting and tyre management service also forms part of the Cold Weather programme.
The Federation of Small Businesses estimates that each day of snow interruption costs the British economy between £600 million and £1 billion.
A number of safety tests conducted by Continental comparing Cold Weather and normal radial tyres demonstrate that when the temperature falls below 7°C, cold weather tyres can offer a 50 per cent improvement in traction.
Cold weather tyres also improve stopping distances, with Continental test data showing that it can take an extra three car lengths to come to a stand still with normal radial tyres travelling at 20mph. When braking with cold weather tyres, the distance can be reduced by 10% on cold, wet surfaces and up to 50 per cent on ice and snow. Cold weather tyres also offer a 20 per cent improvement in wear rate when compared to normal tyres.
Mercedes Benz is offering a complete Cold Weather tyre solution, including wheel fitting and storage across the range.
The Mercedes Benz Cold Weather tyres and alloy wheels for the E 220 CDI starts from £999 plus fitting.
