Volvo Concept You
Volvo's Concept You, an evolution to the Concept Universe, has debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Concept You features a coupe-like exterior and a luxurious and high-tech interior providing the driver with intuitive command functions with smart pad technology.
The fastback body of the Concept You is finished in a light blue liquid metal paint, supported by 21 inch polished aluminium wheels featuring a twisted twin-spoke design fitted with Pirelli 275/30/21 tyres.
On the inside of the Concept You, a control centre consists of four main areas; a digital Driver Information Monitor (DIM), a head-up display on the windscreen, a touch-screen in the upper part of the centre console and a touch-screen between the two individual rear seats. The steering wheel features wood and leather with aluminium and glass paddles complete with integrated touch-screens.
The touch screen in the upper section of the centre console will wake to display information when a hidden infrared camera registers the eye movements of the driver.
A sensor is also used to register hand movements to trigger the Infotainment system's control mode, with different options depending on whether the driver of front passenger's hand is registered.
The Volvo Concept You's central touch screen data can be "flipped" by the driver to the head-up display as well as exchange data with the rear passengers.
The infotainment system in the Volvo Concept You features a high end sound system from Alpine, which features a "FreshAir" subwoofer utilising air outside the car in order to create the ultimate listening experience.
The Concept You is driver orientated at the front whilst offering comfort for rear passengers. The colour scheme is dark at the front, with the front seats fading towards the rear's lighter seating area, with the interior moulding into the rear seat to become part of the seating environment.
Volvo has partnered with a number of famous brands to create a feeling of luxury. For example, the four seats blend chrome free leather from Bridge of Wear with Dinamica ecological suede. The off-black front seats feature suede in the centre for optimal grip. The rear seats, finished in soft beige have been designed for comfort with a leather centre and suede on the sides.
The back of the front seats and door panels in the Volvo Concept You feature exclusive Italian fabric and designs from Swedish fashion house Oscar Jaconson.
Other features include large, handcrafted pieces of walnut, accompanied by leather panels, Dinamica suede roof lining and aluminium details.
The Volvo Concept You features a wooden floor, similar to that of Scandinavian homes, covered with a specially designed hand-tufted carpet from Swedish brand Kasthall. The carpet also fades from dark in the front to light in the rear. The texture at the front is firm, whilst the rear is soft.
