New Hyundai i30
The new generation Hyundai i30 has been unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, which has been designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Russelsheim.
The new generation Hyundai i30, an evolution of Hyundai's 'fluidic sculpture' design DNA is available with the choice of four engines, six power options and CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km with an upgraded 1.6 litre diesel unit.
The three petrol and three diesel engines have power outputs ranging from between 90 and 135PS. Hyundai expects a 50:50 split between diesel and petrol powered Hyundai i30 sales.
The most popular engine is expected to the the highly efficient 1.6 litre variable geometry turbo (VGT) 'U-II' diesel unit, which generates 128PS at 4000rpm, a 0-62mph time of 10.9 seconds and a top speed of 122mph.
The new generation Hyundai i30 can also be specified with Hyundai's 1.6 litre 'Gamma' engine, generating 135PS and 164Nm of torque.
Hyundai's Blue Drive technologies help to optimise efficiency and lower emissions for the new Hyundai i30, such as Integrated Stop & Go (ISG), low-rolling resistance tyres and an alternator management system.
Customers will be able to specify either a manual or automatic six speed transmission, providing a refined drive and enhanced fuel efficiency.
Inspiration for cabin refinement and specification comes from the all new Hyundai i40. Drivers of the new Hyundai i30 will benefit from the new Flex Steer option, providing three operating modes: Comfort, Normal and Sport. The system varies the level of steering assistance and feedback to suit driving conditions. A large TFT Supervision cluster -as found in the Hyundai i40 - presents a range of essential information to the driver in high resolution. The navigation system is located in the centre console and displayed on a 7 inch touch screen.
Equipment levels found on the Hyundai i30 includes dual zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof which has been designed to open fully or tilt open.
Overall length of the new Hyundai i30 is 4300mm and it is 1780mm wide, both increased from the previous version. Height has been reduced to 1470mm giving a sportier exterior image with no compromise to functionality. Cargo capacity is 378 litres with the rear seats upright, a 10% increase compared to the previous model.
