Maserati Kubang Concept

The Maserati Kubang concept unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, which aims to provide a combination to driving pleasure and a luxury atmosphere more in keeping with high-end sports and luxury cars.

The Maserati Kubang concept is a forerunner of the future Maserati range, seeing the manufacturer enter the sport luxury SUV segment.

In 2003, Maserati first unveiled the Kubang concept at the Detroit Auto Show, when many other manufacturers were just moving towards a sport luxury SUV.

The style, engine, suspensions, brakes, handling and performance will all be recognisable as maserati and will be in line with the brand's core values of sportiness, style, elegance, luxury, performance and craftsmanship.

New Maserati proprietary engines will be design in Modena by Paolo Martinelli – Head of the Maserati Powertrain Department and for nearly 30 years at Ferrari, where he also served as engine chief of the Formula One racing team – and will be produced in Maranello by Ferrari.

The Maserati Kubang will feature an AT 8 speed automatic transmission, alongside specifically developed settings for suspensions, brakes and steering by the Maserati Product Development Department.

Maserati has only produced saloons, coupes and two- or four-seater convertibles until today, with two common denominators; sportiness and luxury, which will be carried over to the Maserati Kubang with a dynamic form and high performing sport luxury SUV.
