Jaguar E-Types To Enter The Oldtimer Grand Prix At The Nurburgring

As part of the Jaguar E-Type 50 year celebrations, Jaguar will take part in the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, Germany. Former Jaguar Chief Test Driver Norman Dewis left for the event from the Jaguar Heritage Museum located in Coventry in order to take part in the event.

Attracting more than 60,000 visitors, the Oldtimer Grand Prix runs between 12th to 14th August 2011 and is now in its 39th year. The event hosts ten races on the Grand Prix track with 600 drivers of 20 nationalities.

The original 1961 Jaguar E-Type Geneva show car will be on display, alongside the one of the last models ever produced in 1975. 34 more examples will be taking part in the penultimate round of the E-Type challenge on the Grand Prix circuit with one 20 minute race on saturday and sunday.

Norman Dewis said: "I raced a D-Type at the Oldtimer Grand Prix in the 1950s. This year is the 15th time I have been with Jaguar and it's a fantastic event. I'll be kept busy this weekend with some presentations to clubs, commentating and maybe a demonstration run. I just hope the renowned Nurburgring fog stays away."
