The Renault Scenic 1.6 dCi Stop-Start has been awarded in the MPV section of the Next Green Car Awards 2011.
Judges selected the Renault Scenic for its low CO2 emissions of 115g/km and fuel consumption of 64.2mpg on the combined cycles. They said: "Not only is the new stop-start Renault Scenic well-equipped with all the versatility needed of an MPV, it has great fuel economy and handling - all at a very reasonable price."
The Renault Scenic has a 0-62mph time of 10.3 seconds, offers low tax and fuel costs and a benefit-in-kind rating of 13 per cent.
Dr Ben Lane, Managing Editor of Next Green Car said: "The 2011 winners reflect the latest technologies being used by manufacturers to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, which range from the clean-diesel innovations such as 'stop-start', 'regen-braking' and catalysed particulate filters."
Renault UK's Marketing Director, Phil York, added: "We're delighted to be accepting this award from Next Green Car for our best-selling MPV. The brand new 1.6 dCi 130 is the most powerful diesel engine of its size on sale today and yet has the lowest CO2 and fuel consumption of any MPV on the market.
"Since it was launched at the Paris Motor Show last autumn, there has been a lot of interest in both five- and seven-seat versions fitted with this innovative engine. Such is its success, that we’re looking to extend its use on other Renault models."
