During January and July 2011, Volkswagen delivered 2.95 million vehicles to customers world wide, a 12.5 per cent rise compared to the same period in 2010 (2.62 million).

During July, Volkswagen reports a 17.2 per cent rise, with a total delivery figure of 419,000 - compared to 357,600 units in July 2010.

"The Volkswagen brand has made a good start to the second half of the year with a strong delivery performance in July. Our young and innovative product range has helped us maintain the brisk momentum," Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand.

In Europe, 1.02 million models were delivered in July 2011, an 8.1 per cent rise on July 2010. 556,500 of which were delivered in Western Europe, excluding Germany, where 252,700 vehicles were delivered. In Central and Eastern Europe, 111,800 units were delivered between January and July 2011, a 44.0 per cent rise compared to the same period in 2010. In Russia, delivered more than doubled, from 27,500 to 56,500 units.

Volkswagen delivered 1.10 million vehicles were delivered in the Asia-Pacific region between January and July 2011, 9991,800 of which were delivered to customers in China. 280,900 units were delivered to customers in North America, a 22.0 per cent rise on the same period of 2010. In the region of South America, 444,100 units were delivered to customers, up from 2010's 413,300.

Meanwhile, analysis from JATO Dynamics shows that the Volkswagen Golf is still Europe's best selling car, showing a sales increase of 2.9per cent in July 2011 compared to 2010. The Volkswagen Polo has seen a 0.7 per cent sales increase, gaining second place in the market.

The Volkswagen Passat has seen a 22.6 per cent sales increase in July 2011, and 27.0 per cent for year to date.
