Ones To Watch Winners For SS12 Announced By Vauxhall Fashion Scout

Vauxhall Fashion Scout has announced Ones To Watch for London Fashion Week SS12. This season, Alice Lee, Malene Oddershede Bach, Phoebe English and Shao Yen, will be making their catwalk debut.

Ones To Watch are selected by a panel of industry experts. The last four seasons have seen Ones To Watch launch Eudon Choi, David Longshaw, Tze Goh, Hermione de Paula and Dean Quinn to the market.

Design duo, Alice Lee received international recognition in 2002, awarded NewGen in three consecutive seasons and gained Browns, Harrods and Barneys New York as stockists. This followed Alice's completion of the MA Fashion Knitwear course at Central Saint Martins and Lee's development of underground street-wear label Guerillawear. The label was then put on hold for the couple to raise their family, and then re-launched again last season at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Alice Lee's knitwear collections feature intricately handcrafted, modern pieces with a couture aesthetic.

Danish designer, Malene Oddershede Bach, a 2010 Middlesex University graduate furthered her fashion credentials as Assistant Designer for Preen by Thorton Bregazzi. This September's Ones To Watch will see the launch of her own label, defined by a strong focus on texture and form, layering unusual cuts, bright prints and leather pieces.

Winner of the L'Oreal Professionnel Creative Award and Central Saint Martins' graduate Phoebe English impressed fashion press in February with a collection made mainly of hair. She has completed stints at John Galliano, Diane Von Furstenburg and corsetier Mr Pearl. Phoebe´s signature style is defined as complex, disciplined and detailed.

Shao Yen, born in Taiwan, graduated from MA Fashion Knitwear at Central Saint Martins in 2010 gaining experience at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Claire Tough during his studies. His trademark experimental pieces feature unconventional materials and form creating delicate yet sculptural pieces. Last season, Shao was invited to curate a window display at Selfridges London as part of the 'Bright Young Things' initiative.

"Ones To Watch is the designers' first catwalk show and, as well as creating an exciting event, we will be supporting and helping them build sustainable businesses," Martyn Roberts, Director of Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

Ones To Ones To Watch is chosen by a panel of leading industry figures with an extensive experience in working, supporting and promoting new talent and fashion pioneers including Vogue, Grazia and Not Just A Label. "It is important that the selection is made by external experts in order to give the designers a feeling there are no politics involved," Stefan Seigel, Not Just A Label.
