Vauxhall Ampera Test Drives At EcoVelocity

Vauxhall Ampera

Vauxhall Ampera

During EcoVelocity - 8th - 11th September 2011 - visitors will be given the chance to test drive a prototype Vauxhall Ampera.

London's Low Carbon Motorshow features the latest green automotive technology providing visitors with the chance to test drive a number of low or zero emissions vehicles on a specially constructed course.

Alongside the Vauxhall Ampera, Vauxhall will also showcase the HydoGen4 concept, currently taking part in real world testing in Berlin. The concept is GM's fourth generation fuel cell vehicle, and features an electro-chemical reaction instead of combustion to power the vehicle, with only water vapour being emitted.

The Vauxhall Ampera will go on sale early in 2012, and will be the first electric car in Europe offering zero emission potential. The Ampera offers a range of 50 miles on a full charge with zero CO2 tailpipe emissions. During longer journeys of up to 310 miles, the system will automatically engage a range extender which generates electricity to power the electric motor and sustain a minimum charge in the battery pack.

Vauxhall's latest range of green cars will also be on show, including the 95g Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX, the lowest emission Vauxhall currently on sale which benefits from no VED and no London Congestion Charge.
