Audi A2 Concept
The all electric four seat Audi A2 concept will be at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Audi A2 is 3.80 metres long, 1.69 metres wide and 1.49 tall and features matrix beam LED technology. This next phase in LED technology features a package of LEDs and microreflectors which generation a high-resolution and non-glaring high-beam light. Daytime running light fibres frame the LED low-beam light module. The tail lights can adapt their illumination to visibility conditions. In fog, the rear fog light is seen as a beam of light with a red triangle projected onto the road as a warning.
A band of light runs below the edge of the window from front to the rear of the Audi A2 concept offering a number of functions. Approach sensors can detect the driver and unlock the doors via gesture control. When driving, the dynamic light functions as a side marker light, when the turn indicator is used, the light pulses run along the length of the band. A red bar flows forward from the tail light, when braking and will demonstrate the strength of the braking for following vehicles.
The Audi A2 driver can control many features of the car with the use of touch screen control area on the inside of the steering wheel. Two further control surfaces fold to the driver's right when starting the car.
The Audi A2 concept features a flat interior, with the centre console attached to the driver's seat. The rear console extends forward between two rear seats. Between the two rear seats is enough space for a city bicycle with the front wheel removed.
Colours and materials in the Audi A2 have been selected to emphasise lightness and functionality. Large areas from the door top shoulders feature a material made of polyurethane with a neoprene surface feel. The central floor area is covered by a ribbed material made from recycled polyester.
