Hyundai i40 Tourer
The judges of the 2011 Scottish Car of the Year awards, the Hyundai i40 Tourer has been selected as Scotland's 'Best Estate Car'.
During the testing, the Hyundai i40 Tourer beat off competition from the likes of the Peugeot 508 SW, Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer, Ford Focus and BMW 5 Series Touring to be selected as the winner.
John Murdoch, President of the ASMW commented: "There are three things an estate car must be – practical, practical and practical. So, our winner has the space and versatility to seal the deal for practicality, but this estate has a whole lot more to offer. Not least, its elegant looks and stylish interior, but we’re also big fans of the way it drives, its economical engines and very competitive prices. Oh, and did we mention it’s also one of the most practical estates you can buy?!"
Alongside the Hyundai i40 Tourer, the Hyundai ix20 compact MPV came running up in the Best Small Car category, competing with the Audi A1, Nissan Juke, Nissan Micra and Toyota Yaris.
John Murdoch, President of ASMW, commented: "As well as its high level of standard equipment, the ix20 deserves praise for its economy, quality, packaging and warranty."
Hyundai UK's managing director, Tony Whitehorn, said: "We are absolutely delighted that the i40 Tourer has won the award for ‘Best Estate Car’ of the Year. This is our first award for a vehicle which represents yet another remarkable step change for Hyundai – offering elegant design, practicality, economy and exceptional value for money.
"Our customers and dealers in Scotland are extremely important to us and I would like to thank the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers for this prestigious accolade."
The Hyundai i40 Tourer is on sale now across the UK, priced from £18,395.
