Following the annual MPG Marathon, the Skoda Octavia GreenLine II has been named Best Family Car.

The Skoda Octavia GreenLine II was driven by Sue Baker, with navigator Peter Thompson, over the two day, 370 mile course in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset.

Having used 4.31 gallons, the Skoda Octavia achieved an average consumption figure of 85.9mpg. "Against an official combined cycle fuel economy of 74.3mpg, that’s a 15.7% improvement," said Ross Durkin, Managing Editor of Fleet World Group.

"Their performance earned them a very respectable third place in the 'Best Overall' fuel economy category. But as the models ahead of them were a two-seater city car and a supermini, Sue and Peter can justifiably claim the honour of 'Best Family Car' for the SKODA Octavia GreenLine II. They did a brilliant job."

Design features and innovative technology including the Skoda Octavia's stop/start system, gear change recommendation and energy recuperation allow the car to return figures of 74.3mpg (combined) and 99g/km CO2.
